CNC Miller (Night Shift)

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Miller to join our client's manufacturing team in Tewkesbury on a contract basis. Supporting projects across the aerospace, automotive, and maritime sectors, this role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a precision engineering environment producing high-quality machined components to demanding industry standards.
The successful candidate will be experienced in setting and operating CNC milling machinery, with strong knowledge of FANUC controls and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines using FANUC OI-MF/FANUC control systems.
- Manufacture precision components in accordance with customer drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform tool setting, tool changes, and offset adjustments.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure compliance with drawing tolerances and SPC requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the machining process.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in line with 5S/5C housekeeping principles.
- Identify and report any machining, tooling, or quality issues.
- Contribute to the efficiency and productivity of the machining department while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Strong working knowledge of FANUC controls.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience carrying out self-inspection using standard measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong engineering and problem-solving skills.
- Completed recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing.
Desirable
- Experience within the aerospace manufacturing sector.
- Experience with mill-turn or turning operations.
- Knowledge of Nakamura machines with bar feed systems.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements.
- Experience working within AS9100 or similar quality-controlled environments.
Working Hours
Night Shift
- Core hours: 8:00 PM - 3:00 AM
- 39 hours per week
