The business supplies technically demanding sectors including defence, marine, rail and power, with a strong focus on British manufacturing, quality and skills development.
Job Description
As CNC Turner you will manufacture high-value precision components using large-capacity CNC equipment, taking responsibility for quality from initial setup through to final inspection.
- Produce precision parts from billets, fabrications, castings and forgings in a range of metals.
- Set, programme and operate CNC vertical borers from approximately 500mm to 7,000mm in diameter, according to previous experience.
- Machine one-off and complex components while maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface-finish requirements.
- Inspect completed work using manual measuring equipment and record results accurately.
- Interpret engineering drawings and translate requirements into safe, effective machining methods.
- Work closely with production support, quality and management colleagues on challenging projects.
- Maintain a safe, organised machine-shop environment and take proper care of customer components.
Skills & Experience
To be considered for this position, you should bring practical machining knowledge alongside a reliable, quality-led approach.
- Time-served through a machine-shop apprenticeship or an equivalent engineering background.
- Previous experience using CNC lathes or vertical borers.
- Confident setting one-off jobs and programming CNC machinery.
- Able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Strong manual measurement skills covering dimensions and surface finish.
- A careful, quality-focused approach and a willingness to keep developing.
