COHE Coordinator / Authorised Person – Athlone

 
Dornan Engineering is a well established and leading Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC engineering and construction company, with major project experience across a wide range of sectors in Ireland, Europe and the UK.
Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.
 
Due to the continuous growth with Dornan Engineering, we are currently looking to recruit experienced COHE Coordinator / Authorised Person to join the company on exciting projects.

At Dornan we are currently recruiting COHE Coordinator / Authorised Person to work on a pharmaceutical project in the Athlone.

 

Your day to day will include:

  • Monitoring all Authorized Persons including work carried out under the Permit to Work system, manage and control permit records, Keys and logs.
  • Assessing, appointing and confirming competency levels of Authorized Persons and maintaining up to date logs and registers, Assessing and confirming electrical competency levels of all personnel associated with Dornan COHE and maintaining an up-to-date register, including all Letter of Appointments.
  • Ensure all Sites have a lockable Mimic chart system in place which contains the Site LV Distribution and MV schematics identifying the status of Energization across the Project.
  • Ensure the Authorized Persons are managing, controlling and updating the mimic chart system and fully understand the mimic chart color coding. 
  • Ensure there is a site-specific Lock Out/Tag Out system in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure Safe Starts applicable to Electrical Safety are carried out and in place.
  • Ensure there is a site-specific Electrical Safety Plan in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure all RAMS associated with energization is in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure all Sites have Test Equipment proving units in place.
  • Ensure audits are carried out on all sites at least 2 weeks prior to site energization.
  • Have full responsibility for all matters relating to enrolment of Authorized Persons and implementation of Dornan COHE.
  • Have responsibility for Electrical Safety and other legal requirements relating to the range of electrical work the business undertakes. 
  • Be responsible for the assignment of electrical work to the Authorized Persons.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken or arranged is carried out by Competent Persons who are appropriately supervised.
  • Ensure that the appropriate certificates and reports are issued for all complete electrical work on all projects.
  • Ensure that the relevant information, instruction, training and supervision is afforded to all employees, sub-contractors and third parties in relation to Dornan COHE.
  • Communicate to all employees and sub-contractors' updates on standards and regulations relating to Dornan COHE. Ensure they are properly assigned and understood by all employees within the area of responsibility relating to Electrical Safety.
  • Have current and up to date knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Formulate, establish and continue to improve the Electrical Safety Policy relating to Dornan COHE. 
  • Formulate, establish and improve the Electrical Safety Objectives and Procedures relating to DORNAN COHE.
  • Ensure that all Authorized Persons have a thorough understanding of Dornan COHE.

Essential

  • MIET membership
  • Incorporated Engineer status
  • Experience managing Authorised Persons
  • Knowledge of BS7671 and Electricity at Work Regulations

Desirable

  • Pharmaceutical and or Data Centre experience
  • Previous COHE implementation experience

Site Certifications

  • Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, IPAF
