College Learning Support Worker / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - September 2026 Start
We are delighted to be working in partnership with one of Gloucestershire’s largest and most respected Further Education colleges to recruit Learning Support Workers (LSAs) for the 2026-2027 academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education, SEND support, student wellbeing and helping young people achieve their potential within a college environment.
Location
The college has campuses across Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cinderford and Newent. Successful candidates will be placed at the campus most suitable for them where possible.
Job Details
- Role: College Learning Support Worker / Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
- Start Date: Monday 7th September 2026
- Contract: Full academic year (September 2026 - June/July 2027)
- Hours: 30-35 hours per week, Monday-Friday
- Working hours: Approximately 8:30am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:00pm
- Pay: £14.25-£16.00 per hour depending on experience

About the Role
As a College Learning Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, develop confidence and achieve their goals.
You will provide one-to-one and small group support during classroom lessons and practical sessions. You may support students studying areas such as Animal Management, Agriculture, Sport, Motor Vehicle, Music, Construction, Engineering, Horticulture and Creative Arts.
No subject-specific knowledge is required, although relevant interests, hobbies or practical skills are welcomed.
The Students You'll Support
You will work with students with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Mild Learning Difficulties, Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and SEND.
Students have requested this support themselves and actively engage with the assistance provided, making this a highly rewarding opportunity.

Essential Qualities
We are looking for candidates who are:

- Comfortable working as part of a wider support team
Experience supporting individuals with SEND, Autism, ADHD or SEMH is highly desirable.
Interests or hobbies linked to sport, music, animals, agriculture, engineering or practical trades would also be advantageous.
