We are seeking an experienced SME Account Handler to join a well-established and growing insurance brokerage. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with commercial insurance experience who enjoys managing client relationships, handling a varied portfolio of SME business, and delivering exceptional service.


Working within a specialist SME team, you will support clients across a broad range of package and commercial combined insurance products, ensuring policies are administered accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of client care and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities


Client Service & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with SME clients.
  • Respond to client enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Understand clients' insurance requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Support client retention through excellent service delivery.
  • Assist with policy renewals, adjustments, and ongoing servicing requirements.

Policy Administration

  • Process new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
  • Prepare and issue accurate policy documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant client records.
  • Ensure all administration is completed within agreed service standards.

Insurer Management

  • Obtain quotations and terms from insurers through e-trade platforms and delegated authority schemes.
  • Liaise with insurers regarding policy queries and placement of risks.
  • Escalate complex or non-standard risks where appropriate.
  • Ensure efficient placement of business while maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential

  • Previous experience within an SME or Commercial Account Handling role.
  • Good understanding of SME insurance products, including package and commercial combined policies.
  • Experience using insurer e-trade platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
