Commercial Construction Contracts Manager

Location: Thurmaston, Leicester
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction business for an experienced Commercial Construction Contracts Manager to take ownership of multiple projects from tender through to successful handover.

The Role

You will oversee multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. Working closely with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors and clients, you will provide leadership across the operational, commercial and compliance aspects of each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support tendering activities, including programmes, logistics plans, adjudications and client interviews.
  • Manage and support Site Managers across multiple projects, overseeing progress, resources and programme delivery.
  • Chair pre-start and weekly progress meetings, ensuring projects remain on track.
  • Prepare and monitor construction programmes, providing regular progress and project reports.
  • Ensure projects meet SHEQ, HSE and company compliance requirements, including site inspections, RAMS and H&S documentation.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers and trades, including purchase orders, subcontract orders, quality and defect resolution.
  • Maintain oversight of project scope, variations and commercial matters, working closely with the Quantity Surveyor.
  • Support final accounts, including upstream and downstream accounts, variations and contra charges.
  • Attend client meetings, resolve project issues and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Lead project handovers and close-out, including defects and O&M documentation.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ, HSE and construction compliance.
  • Experience managing multiple sites, projects and teams.
  • Commercially aware, with experience working alongside QS teams and supporting variations and final accounts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and MS Project.
  • AutoCAD experience desirable.
