Commercial Contract Accountant

As Commercial Contract Accountant, you will be a key member of the contract leadership team, providing both commercial and operational financial support to ensure informed business decisions are made across two long-term Facilities Management contracts.
You will take ownership of financial reporting, month-end accounting, budgeting and forecasting, while working closely with operational leaders to drive performance, improve controls, identify opportunities for cost reduction and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting in line with IFRS and company accounting policies.
- Take full ownership of month-end processes, including journal postings, reconciliations and balance sheet management.
- Prepare and report monthly management accounts for multiple contracts.
- Maintain full responsibility for contract P&L and balance sheet performance.
- Lead budget preparation, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify efficiencies and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Develop financial models and prepare quarterly accounting papers.
- Present financial performance, risks and opportunities to senior leadership teams.
- Build strong working relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders.
- Ensure finance processes, controls and governance frameworks are continuously improved.
- Manage relationships with both internal and external auditors.
- Support contract billing processes to ensure timely invoicing and cash collection.
- Upload and maintain financial data within SAP.
- Contribute to ad-hoc finance and commercial projects as required.
We are looking for a proactive and commercially focused accountant who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.
Essential Experience
- Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience.
- 5 years' accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and technical accounting principles.
- Experience within contract accounting and commercial finance environments.
- Proven experience managing complex financial reporting and forecasting processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain a strategic commercial perspective.
- Facilities Management sector experience.
- Experience supporting PFI or long-term service contracts.
- Knowledge of SAP.
- Experience working within large, multi-site operational environments.
- Competitive salary of £67,000 - £70,000.
