Are you a Law graduate looking to build a career in commercial contracts?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established Defence Manufacturing business in Coventry in a permanent Commercial Officer position.
We are looking for someone with a Law degree and some relevant legal or commercial experience who is keen to develop their career within a commercial contracts environment. You may have worked in a legal team, contracts function, commercial environment or gained relevant experience through an internship, placement or previous role.
You do not need to have years of commercial experience. What matters is a strong legal foundation, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in contracts and commercial matters.
Working within a highly regulated manufacturing environment, you will support the full commercial lifecycle of customer and supplier contracts, working closely with sales, procurement, engineering, project teams and customers.
The Role
As Commercial Officer, you will provide commercial and contractual support across a range of UK and international projects.
You will have the opportunity to use your legal knowledge in a practical commercial environment, developing your experience across contract review, drafting, negotiation, compliance and commercial risk.
This is a permanent role offering excellent exposure to a complex and highly regulated industry, with the opportunity to develop your commercial career.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the management of customer and supplier contracts
• Assist with contract reviews, drafting and amendments
• Support the commercial team throughout the contract lifecycle from tender and bid stage through to completion
• Review contractual terms and identify potential risks and obligations
• Support the sales and commercial teams with bids, proposals and customer negotiations
• Help ensure contractual requirements are understood and communicated across the business
• Support supplier and customer due diligence
• Assist with commercial governance, compliance and internal processes
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Support the wider commercial team with contract administration and process improvements
What We're Looking For
• A Law degree is essential
• Some experience within a legal, contracts, commercial or business environment
• A genuine interest in developing a career within commercial contracts
• Good understanding of contract principles and legal documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyse information
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Commercially minded with a practical approach to problem solving
• Confident working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, defence, aerospace or another regulated environment would be beneficial but is not essential
