Painter & Decorator (Night Shift) – Temporary Contract

Location: Brentwood, Essex (Private Hospital Site)

Dates: 21st – 24th August
Working Hours: Approximately 6:00pm – 6:00am (Night Shifts)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator with strong plastering and making-good experience to support a fire door installation project within a hospital environment in Brentwood.

Working on night shifts, you will carry out high-quality making-good works following the daytime installation of new fire doors, ensuring all areas are completed to an excellent standard and ready for use the following working day.

Key Responsibilities

• Make good damaged plaster and wall finishes following the installation of new fire doors.
• Prepare and decorate wall areas, painting white to the first corner on both sides of each doorway.
• Prepare and paint newly installed door frames where required (doors are not to be painted).
• Complete all finishing works to a high standard within tight timescales.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment within a live hospital setting.
• Liaise with the site team to ensure all works are completed before the next day's installation programme.

Project Details

• Approximately 8 fire doors to be replaced over four days (a mixture of single and double doors).
• Daytime teams will install 2 fire doors per day.
• Night shift decorator will complete all making-good and decorating works associated with each day's installations.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in painting, decorating, plaster repairs, and making-good works.
• Proven experience working on commercial refurbishment or maintenance projects.
• Ability to achieve a high-quality finish with excellent attention to detail.
• Own tools and transport preferred.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• NVQ qualification and CSCS Card preferred.
• Experience working within healthcare or occupied buildings would be advantageous.
