Branta Recruitment is partnering with a market-leading, national Facilities Management company to recruit a Static Commercial Gas Engineer to be based permanently at a prestigious, large-scale commercial site in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Say goodbye to daily travel across the North East—this role offers the stability of working on a single, high-spec commercial facility. You will be the resident gas and heating specialist on-site, responsible for ensuring all commercial plant rooms, heating systems, and associated mechanical infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, service, and maintain all static plant room equipment, commercial boilers, and gas fired heating systems on-site.

  • Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and respond swiftly to reactive mechanical faults.

  • Carry out fault diagnosis, combustion checks, and emergency repairs to minimize site downtime.

  • Issue gas safety certificates, maintain statutory compliance logs, and keep digital site records up to date.

  • Oversee specialist subcontractors during major plant replacements or specialist servicing works.

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for the client’s on-site estates and facilities management team.

  • Participate in a site-specific emergency call-out rota (additional allowance provided).

Requirements:

  • ACS Commercial Gas qualifications (essential):

    • CODNCO1 or COCN1

    • CIGA1, CDGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A

  • Proven experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer within a static or mobile commercial FM contract.

  • In-depth knowledge of commercial plant room operations, BMS controls, and gas safety regulations.

  • Proactive, client-facing approach with excellent communication skills.

  • Additional plumbing or HVAC maintenance skills (desirable).
