Commercial Gas Heating Engineer

Location: West Midlands (Walsall & surrounding local area)

Salary: £45,000 per annum, weekly pay

Hours: 40 hours/week Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30 (30-min lunch)

An established regional mechanical services contractor is looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team. Servicing longstanding local authority, educational, and commercial contracts across Walsall and the wider West Midlands, this position involves local travel only, offering an excellent work-life balance with no national working away.

Primary Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, planned maintenance, servicing, and emergency repairs on commercial heating systems and gas appliances across schools, municipal buildings, and private sector sites.
• Conduct thorough system inspections, diagnostics, and fault-finding using standard industry techniques.
• Perform routine annual servicing on heating plant to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Complete and maintain accurate service reports, compliance certificates, and maintenance records.
• Work strictly within current Gas Safe, health, and safety guidelines.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Heating Engineer.
• Relevant commercial gas qualifications (CoCN1 or  CoDNCO1 etc).
• Sound mechanical and plumbing knowledge for integrating new pipework and plantroom systems.
• Capability with standard hand and power tools, light fabrication, or pipe fitting/welding.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to manage typical physical requirements associated with site installation work.

Desirable Criteria

• Commercial Catering qualifications (COMCAT) would be advantageous.
• 18th Edition Electrical certification would be useful but not essential.
• Basic structural adaptions/carpentry knowledge related to plantroom access or installation work.
• Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one for school and social care site access).
