Commercial Insurance Broker in Chelmsford

A client of ours in the Chelmsford area is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Insurance Broker to join their team on a full-time office based, permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous commercial insurance broking experience who enjoys building strong client relationships, managing a portfolio and delivering tailored insurance solutions.

The successful candidate will play an important role in managing and developing commercial client accounts, working closely with clients, insurers and underwriters to secure competitive insurance cover that meets their individual business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, providing a professional and proactive broking service.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, insurers and underwriters.
• Understand clients' businesses, risk exposures and insurance requirements to recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
• Manage new business enquiries and renewals from initial discussions through to quotation, negotiation and policy placement.
• Obtain, review and negotiate competitive quotations, premiums, terms and cover with insurers.
• Prepare market presentations, risk submissions, renewal reports and supporting documentation.
• Review policy wordings, schedules and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and suitability of cover.
• Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional products and develop existing client relationships.
• Maintain accurate client records and ensure all activities meet FCA, Consumer Duty and internal compliance requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working within commercial insurance broking is essential.
• Practical experience dealing with Fleet, Goods in Transit, Commercial Property and Construction insurance is essential.
• Good understanding of commercial insurance products, insurer markets and the policy placement process.
• Experience managing renewals, obtaining quotations and negotiating terms with insurers.
• Confident building relationships and communicating with commercial clients, insurers and underwriters.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• A proactive approach to client service, problem-solving and business development.
• CII qualifications, or a willingness to work towards them, would be advantageous.
• A good understanding of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.

What's on Offer?

• Salary of £27,000 – £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• Full-time, permanent position.
• Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
