Commercial Manager (Design)

Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

Are you an experienced Commercial Manager with a strong background in Design & Build and the commercial management of consultant and design packages?

We're recruiting for a specialist Commercial Manager to join a market-leading infrastructure contractor, supporting the design phase of a flagship London infrastructure programme. This is an opportunity to play a key role in managing the commercial performance of complex design packages from early development through to delivery.

Working closely with Design Managers, Project Teams and Consultants, you'll provide commercial leadership across consultant contracts, technical change, cost management and NEC contract administration, ensuring commercial risk is effectively managed throughout the design lifecycle.

As Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for:

• Leading the commercial management of consultant and design contracts across major infrastructure projects.
• Administering NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, contractual notices and change management.
• Managing high-value design packages, including forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting.
• Assessing the commercial impact of design development and technical change, ensuring robust commercial decision-making.
• Managing commercial risk, maintaining risk registers and supporting mitigation strategies.
• Supporting the procurement and commercial management of professional services.
• Reviewing programme impacts on cost, risk and contractual entitlement.
• Building strong working relationships with Design Managers, Consultants and Project Teams to drive commercial performance.
• Providing commercial leadership and supporting the development of junior commercial team members where appropriate.

We're looking for a commercially driven professional who can confidently operate within complex infrastructure environments.

You'll ideally have experience in:

• Design & Build projects.
• Commercial management of consultant and professional service packages.
• NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract administration.
• Managing high-value packages with significant change control.
• Cost forecasting, commercial reporting and contract administration.
• Technical change management and design development.
• Commercial risk management and programme awareness.
• Influencing multidisciplinary teams, consultants and senior stakeholders.
• Major infrastructure, civil engineering or rail projects.

You'll be an organised and proactive Commercial Manager who thrives in a fast-paced project environment, balancing commercial governance with collaborative delivery.
