Commercial Manager – Construction & Fit Out
Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Surveyor looking to step up
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

We’re working with a forward-thinking construction and fit out contractor with an excellent reputation across Scotland. With a strong pipeline of repeat business and long-term frameworks, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to join their growing team.
The company delivers a mix of construction, fit out and small works projects, typically around £300K, with larger projects ranging from £600K to £1.5M and projects up to £3.5M.
They hold a long-term framework with energy firms, delivering substations, alongside an established framework portfolio of school and education projects across Central Belt.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will lead a small commercial team of Estimators and Quantity Surveyors, overseeing the commercial performance of projects from tender through to completion. Your main priority will be clients and technical detail, trusting and overseeing your team to deliver results within their own roles.
You’ll be involved in:
- Leading and supporting a team of 3 Estimators / QS's
- Managing the commercial performance of multiple projects
- Overseeing tenders, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Working closely with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
- Maintaining strong relationships with established subcontractors and suppliers
- Getting involved in technical and commercial detail
- Negotiating commercially at an early stage to avoid unnecessary disputes
- Supporting projects across construction, fit out and frameworks
- Ensuring projects are delivered commercially and profitably
About You
The ideal Commercial Manager will have a strong joinery, fit out or construction background, with experience managing multiple projects and a commercial team.
Experience across groundworks, curtain walling or wider construction disciplines would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
You'll be commercially strong, practical and flexible, with the ability to build relationships rather than create conflict. The business has a loyal network of subcontractors and places a real emphasis on negotiating upfront, working collaboratively and delivering repeat business.
You should be comfortable operating between the office and sites, managing a team while remaining hands-on with the commercial detail.
