Our client, a global leader in Freight Forwarding is now recruiting for a Commercial Operations Manager join the sea freight team in their Trafford Park office
The Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Exports Freight Forwarding Operations function. Providing high service standards in customer satisfaction, commercial performance, ensuring the achievement of strategic business objectives.
The post holder will play a key role in improving productivity, customer retention, and the development of new business opportunities.
In addition to driving commercial performance/profitability, developing strategic customer relationships, improving operational effectiveness, the post holder will lead the team to achieve the Company's financial and service objectives, reviewing operational effectiveness, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, customs requirements and company policies.
* Lead and manage the Freight Forwarding Operations team, ensuring high levels of performance, engagement and customer service.
* Drive revenue growth, gross profit performance and customer retention.
* Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Export Department
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
* Identify and secure opportunities for business growth and service expansion.
* Monitor operational and commercial KPIs and implement improvements where required.
* Prepare and review monthly management reports, financial, and performance results.
* Manage departmental budgets, resources and cost control measures.
* Ensure compliance with customs regulations, legal requirements and Company policies.
* Lead, coach and develop team members to support succession planning and continuous improvement.
* Act as the senior escalation point for operational, customer and commercial issues.
* Support the delivery of the Company's strategic objectives and business plans.
Experience and skills required
* Commercial and Operational experience in a commercial Freight Forwarding Export Manager role working for a freight forwarder
* Export logistics knowledge essential
* Good Communication skills and relationship building abilities
* Knowledge of customs compliance and regulatory requirements
* Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions
* Problems solving and decision making skills
* Proficient in Microsoft office
* Proactive, results driven approach with strong customer focus
Salary and Benefits
* Salary £40,000 to £55,000 dependent upon experience
* Flexible working hours: 3 working patterns you can choose from - 8am - 4pm, 9am - 5pm & 10am - 6 pm (with 45 min lunch break)
