We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Plumber to join a well-established, family-owned Mechanical & Electrical Engineering contractor based in Bedford.

Salary: £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Our client is an established mechanical and electrical engineering business with over 30 years of experience delivering installation, maintenance and responsive building services. The company works across a diverse range of commercial environments, including education, healthcare, local authorities, retail, leisure and private-sector clients.
With dedicated mechanical, electrical and service divisions, the business provides a comprehensive building-services offering, from planned maintenance and servicing through to installation projects and emergency response. They have built a strong reputation for delivering a professional, reliable and personal service to their customers.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced Commercial Plumber to join their team.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role covering commercial plumbing installation, planned maintenance, servicing and reactive repairs across client sites in Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas.
You will work across a range of commercial properties, carrying out maintenance and installation works while representing the company professionally and maintaining its high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
·Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive plumbing works
·Service, maintain and repair commercial plumbing systems
·Diagnose and rectify plumbing faults efficiently
·Work on hot and cold water systems
·Install and replace sanitaryware, pipework, valves, pumps and associated equipment
·Carry out repairs to water and drainage systems
·Undertake plumbing installation and refurbishment projects
·Maintain and work on plant room pipework and associated mechanical services
·Attend emergency call-outs when required
·Complete job sheets, service reports and maintenance documentation
·Liaise directly with customers, site contacts and other contractors
·Ensure all works are completed safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant regulations
·Work independently while managing your own workload and prioritising jobs effectively
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have proven experience working within commercial plumbing or building services, with the ability to undertake both planned and reactive works.
You should have:
·Proven experience as a Commercial Plumber
·NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating, or equivalent
·Previous commercial building-services experience
·Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
·Good knowledge of commercial plumbing and mechanical systems
·A professional approach to customers and clients
·Good communication skills
·The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
·Full UK Driving Licence
Experience within commercial heating, plant rooms, healthcare, education or other public-sector environments would be advantageous.
Due to the nature of some client contracts, successful applicants may be required to undergo DBS/security screening and relevant background checks. The company has experience working within environments where enhanced DBS checks are required.
