Are you an experienced Ocean Freight or Import professional ready to take the next step into leadership?

We're looking for an Ocean Freight Commercial Team Leader to join an established and successful Import Short Sea team in Ipswich.

This is a great opportunity for someone who knows the shipping industry, enjoys working with customers and overseas partners, and is ready to lead a team, develop commercial opportunities and have a bigger say in how the trade performs.

You don't need to have done everything before. If you've got strong freight forwarding experience, good commercial instincts and the confidence to lead and influence others, this could be the perfect next move.

What you'll be doing

• Lead, coach and develop a busy Import Short Sea team
• Support the Trade Manager in growing and developing the trade
• Build strong relationships with customers and overseas agents
• Monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement and growth
• Analyse trade data and produce meaningful reports
• Lead meetings with internal teams, customers and international partners
• Help improve processes and introduce new ideas
• Work closely with colleagues across the business to deliver excellent customer service

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have:

• Experience within shipping, ocean freight or freight forwarding
• Import and/or Short Sea experience
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience — or be ready for your first step into management
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of trade performance
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Confidence working with customers, agents and internal stakeholders
• A positive, proactive approach and a genuine interest in developing people
