Commissioning and Critical Power Support Manager

My client is seeking a Commissioning and Critical Support Manager dedicated to their high-performance HGY series generators. The HGY series is specifically engineered for mission-critical environments—such as data centres, hospitals, and capacity markets.
In this role, you will be focused more about managing systems engineering and on-site commissioning/ SAT’s and deployment of competent persons to site. You will hold a vital role in ensuring service excellence at the delivery stage through to final commissioning and technical support thereafter.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commissioning & Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- System Commissioning: Perform thorough commissioning of generator sets and associated power systems for data centre and critical energy projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and safety standards
- Functional Testing: Conduct functional and performance tests on diesel and gas generator equipment to validate operational readiness and reliability under critical load conditions
- Client Contractual Expectations : Successfully execute and complete all SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) and commissioning stages as defined in the contract of supply.
- Pre-Start Verifications: Execute and audit a comprehensive product specific commissioning checklists, ensuring:
- Fluid Management: Automatic oil refilling and pre-lubrication systems are active.
- Fuel Integrity: Compliant and proper final termination of the fuel line to the generator, ensuring the three-way valve system and electric priming pumps have fully cleared air from the high-pressure lines.
- All electrical, exhaust and coolant circuits are inspected, and properly terminated and working correctly prior to SAT
- Documentation: Provide detailed commissioning documentation, including test reports, checklists, and completion certificates that meet regulatory, internal quality, and client requirements
2. Technical Focus & Expertise
- Advanced ECU Diagnostics: Troubleshoot the Engine Control Unit (ECU) communicating via CAN bus to the controller, including remote monitoring configuration and diagnostic software integration.
- Emission Control Systems: Supervise the installation and commissioning of supplied Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to monitor NOx and temperature parameters in real-time.
- Cross-Portfolio Competence: Maintain thorough knowledge of broader product portfolio, common control systems, and extended range of the ancillaries and options as offered in the power solutions product lines
3. Critical Support, Fault Diagnostics & Performance
- Act as the key support lead for complex technical failures or risks that local technicians cannot solve, promptly diagnosing and resolving technical faults arising during commissioning, initial, and long-term operation phases to maintain uptime and service excellence
- Inquiry Response: Respond efficiently to pre- and post-commissioning service requests and technical support inquiries to resolve equipment or system performance concerns in critical applications
- Risk Mitigation: Report any observed site concerns, limitations, or technical risks immediately to management.
