A leading global life sciences organisation is undertaking a major capital investment programme and is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of a new state-of-the-art laboratory and R&D facility. Working within a multidisciplinary project team, you will play a key role in ensuring complex building systems, laboratory environments and supporting infrastructure are safely commissioned and ready for operational handover
Your new role
As Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing commissioning activities from construction completion through to operational readiness. You will work closely with contractors, design teams, vendors and end-users to ensure systems perform to design intent and meet operational requirements.Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating commissioning activities across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation controls, specialist laboratory systems and process utilities.
- Managing commissioning documentation, testing protocols, functional testing and integrated systems testing.
- Supporting operational readiness, system handover and occupancy planning.
- Ensuring commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with project schedules.
- Managing technical risks, punch-list items and system deficiencies through to closure.
- Providing regular progress updates to project leadership and key stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer on complex construction or capital projects.
- A strong understanding of MEP systems, building services, automation controls and technical facility infrastructure.
- Experience within laboratory, R&D, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or similarly regulated technical environments.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and commissioning documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and coordination skills.
- Previous experience supporting commissioning, operational readiness, integrated testing or facility handover activities.
- An engineering degree, HND or equivalent technical qualification would be advantageous.
