About the Role

I'm currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer II - Electrical opportunity with a leading provider of power and commissioning services supporting mission-critical infrastructure and data center projects across the United States.

This is a hands-on, field-based position for an experienced electrical commissioning engineer who enjoys working across multiple project sites and taking ownership of complex commissioning activities.

You will lead electrical commissioning from planning through final turnover, working directly with clients, contractors, vendors, construction teams and project engineers to ensure systems are safe, reliable, fully tested and operating according to design intent.

This role requires frequent nationwide travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite commissioning of electrical power, controls and critical infrastructure systems.
  • Commission MV/HV power distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, ATS/STS and related systems.
  • Develop, review and execute commissioning procedures, test scripts and functional/performance testing.
  • Support energization, switching, isolation and integrated systems testing.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, equipment submittals and test results.
  • Identify deficiencies, troubleshoot issues and drive corrective actions through resolution.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project schedules, contractors, vendors and construction teams.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, field reports and final turnover packages.
  • Communicate project status, deficiencies and testing results to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support RFIs, technical queries and engineering/design reviews.
  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with applicable safety standards, project requirements and site procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical commissioning experience.
  • Data center or other mission-critical commissioning experience.
  • At least 1 year operating in a Lead Commissioning Engineer capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution and critical power systems.
  • Experience with complex functional, performance and integrated systems testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and control documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience producing commissioning procedures, test scripts and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and lead commissioning activities onsite.
  • Strong communication skills when working with clients, contractors and vendors.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.

  • CxAlloy, Compass, Procore or similar platforms
  • OSHA 30
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, OSHA and electrical safe work practices

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent hands-on commissioning experience will be considered.

Travel & Field Requirements

This is a nationwide field-based position requiring regular travel to project sites throughout the U.S.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working in:

  • Active data center construction environments
  • Operational facilities
  • Energized electrical environments
  • Outdoor and industrial environments

A valid driver's license, reliable transportation and ability to be insured are required.

The position may involve overtime and working in environments involving heat, noise, dust, vibration, water, grease, oil and other construction-related conditions.
