Pay: £15:00 –£17.00 per hour, depending on experience and assignment

About the Role 

Care & Co Healthcare is expanding its specialist children and young people's services across Liverpool and Sefton, and we are looking for experienced, confident and reliable Family Support Workers to join our growing team.

Our staff support children and young people with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties, challenging behaviour and complex family circumstances.

The role is varied and may include supporting young people at home, in the community, with education, during family time or while travelling to and from school and other placements.

This is not simply a traditional care role. We are looking for people who can build relationships, manage challenging situations calmly and help young people engage positively with education, family and their community.

Your Responsibilities May Include

  • Providing 1:1, 2:1 or higher-level support to children and young people

  • Supporting young people in the community and during activities

  • Supporting school attendance and transitions into education

  • Accompanying young people during specialist transport

  • Supporting children who may struggle with conventional school transport

  • Providing supervised family time and family support

  • Supporting young people displaying behaviours that may challenge

  • Using de-escalation and positive behaviour-support techniques

  • Maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding standards

  • Completing accurate daily reports, incident reports and handovers

  • Working alongside families, social workers, schools and other professionals

Who We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in applicants with previous experience in:

Children's residential care, Family support, SEND / SEN services, Autism and learning disability support, Youth work, Challenging behaviour, Mental health support, Education or alternative provision, Secure or specialist transport

You should be calm, confident and resilient, with the ability to establish appropriate boundaries while developing positive relationships with young people.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals

  • Good understanding of safeguarding

  • Ability to remain calm during challenging situations

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work flexibly, including around school times where required

  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check

  • Right to work in the UK

A full UK driving licence is highly desirable due to the nature of our community and transport-based work.

Training

Successful candidates will receive appropriate induction and training for their role.

Our teams receive specialist training relevant to supporting children with complex needs, including safeguarding, behaviour management, de-escalation and physical intervention/safety training where required.
