Are you a teacher who believes some of the most valuable learning happens beyond the classroom?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Community Teacher to join our team from September. This is a unique opportunity for a qualified primary or secondary teacher who is passionate about developing young people's confidence, independence and life skills through meaningful experiences in the local community.
As our Community Teacher, you'll create exciting learning opportunities that help students develop the practical skills they need for everyday life. From navigating public transport and managing money to visiting local businesses, colleges, museums and community organisations, you'll help students make connections between what they learn in school and the world around them.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys thinking differently about education and wants to make a lasting impact on students' personal development.
What You'll Be Doing -
Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences in school and within the local community.
Develop students' confidence, resilience and independence.
Teach practical life skills such as travel training, budgeting, communication and decision-making.
Organise educational visits and enrichment opportunities.
Build positive partnerships with local employers, charities and community organisations.
Support students in preparing for adulthood, further education and future employment.
Ensure all visits are well planned, safe and purposeful.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Is a qualified primary or secondary teacher (QTS essential).
Has a passion for developing young people's personal growth alongside their academic progress.
Is confident leading groups in a range of settings.
Is organised, flexible and enjoys creating engaging learning experiences.
Builds positive relationships with students, colleagues and the wider community.
Believes education should be relevant, memorable and enjoyable.
Why Join Us?
We are a small, welcoming secondary school where every member of staff has the opportunity to make a real difference. Our close-knit community means students are well known, relationships are strong and new ideas are encouraged.
We offer:
A genuinely unique teaching role with variety every day.
A friendly and supportive staff team.
Opportunities to shape an innovative programme of community-based learning.
High-quality professional development and a strong commitment to staff wellbeing.
The chance to help young people develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed in life.
Whether you're currently teaching in a primary or secondary setting and are looking for a fresh challenge, or you're passionate about learning beyond the classroom, we'd love to hear from you.
