About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and reliable Complex Care Assistants to join our team, providing 1:1 person-centred support to individuals with complex health needs in their own homes. This is a rewarding role where you will enable clients to live safely and independently while supporting their personal goals, interests, and community connections. You will be a trusted professional who empowers clients to engage in the activities they enjoy – whether that is attending theatre shows, visiting the gym, swimming, pursuing creative hobbies, or simply enjoying time with family and friends.

-
Provide all aspects of personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
-
Support with clinical interventions as prescribed in the care plan, which may include PEG feeding (preparation, administration, flushing, and aftercare), medication administration (oral, PEG, or other routes), moving and handling using hoists and equipment, ventilation/airway management, and seizure management including emergency first aid.
-
Monitor and record clinical observations (vital signs, fluid balance, weight) and report changes promptly, maintaining accurate daily records using digital or paper-based systems.
Lifestyle & Activity Support
-
Encourage and support clients to pursue their personal interests, hobbies, and goals, facilitating access to activities such as swimming, gym sessions, creative arts, sports, theatre visits, shopping, or social events.
-
Support community access by accompanying clients to appointments, days out, and social gatherings, and assist them in maintaining relationships with family, friends, and wider social networks.
Communication & Relationship Building
-
Build a meaningful, professional 1:1 relationship based on trust, respect, and empathy, adapting communication methods to suit each client's needs – which may include eye movement/gaze recognition, communication aids (iPads, speech-generating devices, or letter boards), or sign-based systems like Makaton.
-
Hold engaging, age-appropriate conversations and work collaboratively with families, multidisciplinary teams (GPs, therapists, nurses), and the wider care team.
Safety & Wellbeing
-
Ensure the client's environment remains safe, clean, and comfortable, following all risk assessments, care plans, and company policies.
-
Identify and escalate any safeguarding concerns immediately, and remain calm, observant, and responsive in emergency or high-pressure situations.
