About the Role:
Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with complex needs on a 1:1 and small group basis, enabling them to access learning and develop their communication, social, emotional, and independence skills. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver tailored support that helps each child thrive both academically and personally.
The school is seeking a patient, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs
- Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Implement personalised learning strategies and interventions
- Assist with sensory, behavioural, and personal care needs where appropriate
- Promote independence and encourage active participation in classroom activities
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND and complex needs
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other additional learning needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Relevant SEND qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
