We are seeking motivated Composite Laminators and Trimmers to join our expanding, high-performance manufacturing team in Wellingborough. This is a fantastic opportunity for junior to skilled composite professionals who take pride in producing high-quality components to exacting standards.

Job Title: Composite Laminator (Days) and Composite Trimmer (Nights)
Location: Wellingborough
Hours: Monday to Friday – 07:30 to 16:30 or Monday to Thursday – 16:00 to 02:00
Contract Type: Permanent

 

The role involves manufacturing premium composite components, including laminating, vacuum bagging, mould preparation, autoclave operation, and quality inspections. Responsibilities also include trimming, fitting, bonding, repairing, and finishing advanced composite parts to support production across both day and night shifts. You will ensure all components are manufactured, assembled, and finished accurately while maintaining the highest quality standards throughout.

Key Responsibilities – Laminator Role

  • Manufacture composite laminated components following laminate schedules, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform laminating, vacuum bagging, and mould preparation to a consistently high standard.
  • Prepare, maintain, and repair moulds as required.
  • Operate autoclaves in line with established production processes and procedures.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering strictly to all health, safety, and quality regulations.
  • Support other production activities and departments as needed.
  • Identify potential issues and contribute suggestions for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities – Trimmer Role

  • Trim composite components accurately using specialist hand and power tools, adhering to engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Demould components following cure cycles and perform post-curing tasks as necessary.
  • Fit, assemble, and bond composite components to produce high-quality assemblies.
  • Carry out composite repairs, including laminate repairs, surface filling, and finishing.
  • Prepare composite surfaces for bonding in accordance with specifications and procedures.
  • Conduct self-inspections to ensure components meet quality standards before formal checks.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across production and other departments to achieve manufacturing targets.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Uphold high standards of workmanship, conduct, and departmental presentation.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support production goals through effective teamwork and communication.

About You

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Composite Technician or in a similar composite manufacturing role.
  • Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Experience with vacuum bagging and autoclave operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to support wider production activities as required.

Additional Information
Experienced Laminators and Trimmers are encouraged to apply.
Day shift – Up to £18 per hour
Night shift – £18 per hour plus 20% shift allowance
Experience in Formula 1 and Motorsport is highly desirable.
Minimum 4 to 5 years’ experience preferred.
