Are you a passionate Computer Science Teacher looking for a part-time teaching opportunity in Maidstone?
A well-established and supportive secondary school in Maidstone, Kent is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Computer Science to join its department on a part-time basis, working 2 days per week (0.4).
The school is looking for a committed and motivated teacher who has a genuine passion for Computer Science and can inspire pupils through engaging, challenging and well-planned lessons.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced teacher seeking a part-time position or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative secondary school environment.
The Role
As a Teacher of Computer Science, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach KS5 where appropriate.
- Deliver challenging and well-organised lessons that support pupils across a range of abilities.
- Develop pupils' knowledge, confidence and understanding of Computer Science.
- Use a range of teaching strategies, resources and assessment methods to support pupil progress.
- Assess pupils regularly and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic achievement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Computer Science department.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and other stakeholders regarding pupil progress.
- Contribute positively to the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate UK-recognised teaching qualification.
- Has a relevant degree in Computer Science or a related subject.
- Has experience teaching Computer Science within a secondary school setting, either through employment or teacher training placements.
- Can confidently teach Computer Science at KS3 and KS4 / GCSE level.
- Has strong and up-to-date subject knowledge.
- Understands the Computer Science curriculum and appropriate approaches to assessment.
- Can differentiate and adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils across a range of abilities.
- Has confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Has high expectations for pupil achievement and progress.
- Is enthusiastic, dedicated and keen to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Experience teaching Computer Science at KS5 would be advantageous but is not essential.
