Computing Teacher – Secondary School

Location: Barnet, London
Salary: £37,870–£56,154 per annum (M1–UPS3)
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: 8 September 2026
Key Stages: KS3–KS5

Teach Now is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Computing Teacher to join a secondary school in Barnet from September 2026.

The successful candidate will teach Computing across KS3 and KS4, with the potential for KS5 teaching depending on experience. You will help pupils develop both practical digital skills and a deeper understanding of computer science, including programming, algorithms, data, systems and computational thinking.

The school is open to applications from ECTs as well as experienced Computing and Computer Science Teachers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Computing lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Teach GCSE Computer Science and contribute to curriculum development
  • Develop pupils’ programming, problem-solving and computational-thinking skills
  • Teach topics such as algorithms, data representation, computer systems, networks and cyber security
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and address gaps in knowledge
  • Differentiate learning for pupils with different levels of prior experience
  • Establish a purposeful, well-managed classroom environment
  • Promote safe, responsible and ethical use of technology
  • Contribute to departmental planning, enrichment and wider school life
Requirements

To be considered, you should have:

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in Computing, Computer Science or a closely related field
  • The ability to teach Computing confidently at secondary level
  • Knowledge of at least one commonly taught programming language, such as Python, is highly desirable
  • Strong classroom-management and communication skills
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching and high expectations for all pupils
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Satisfactory professional references

Experience teaching GCSE or A-Level Computer Science would be advantageous but is not essential for every applicant.
