The Role
Due to continued growth, Rotron Aerospace is seeking an experienced Concept Design Engineer to join its engineering team in Semley.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of innovative aerospace products from initial concept through to production, supporting the design of advanced propulsion systems and unmanned aircraft technologies.
The successful candidate will be involved throughout the product development lifecycle, creating innovative mechanical designs, producing detailed CAD models and supporting engineering projects through testing, development and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
Produce innovative concept designs and mechanical solutions.
Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
Develop products from concept through prototype to production.
Work closely with manufacturing, production and test engineers.
Support design reviews, engineering calculations and design validation.
Improve existing products for manufacturability, reliability and performance.
Produce engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings and technical reports.
Liaise with suppliers regarding manufactured components and assemblies.
Requirements
Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
Strong experience using SolidWorks CAD.
Proven background in concept design and product development.
Experience designing products for manufacture (DFM/DFA).
Knowledge of machining, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Ability to solve complex engineering problems with a practical approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
Aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport or advanced engineering experience.
Experience of prototype development and testing.
Knowledge of FEA or simulation tools.
Understanding of GD&T and engineering standards.
