Construction Health & Safety Manager / Site Manager (H&S Focus) – Consultancy Basis

Location: Bristol, Hull & Nottingham (site visits) | Devon-based consultancy
Rate: £300 per day + expenses paid
Contract type: Self-employed (CIS) | Part-time, 2–3 days per week (dependent on visits and workload)

The Company
A Devon based health and safety consultancy is looking for an experienced Construction Health & Safety Manager or Site Manager with a strong health and safety background to join on a consultancy basis. This is a part-time opportunity carrying out site audits and inspections across sites in Bristol, Hull, and Nottingham.

The Role
You will be responsible for conducting health and safety audits and inspections across a range of construction sites, working flexibly around 2–3 days a week depending on site visit requirements and workload. This role would suit either a dedicated Health & Safety Manager from a construction background, or a Site Manager with strong health and safety knowledge and experience, looking for part-time or portfolio-style work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out site health and safety audits and inspections across sites in Bristol, Hull, and Nottingham
  • Identifying non-compliance, hazards, and areas for improvement, and providing clear, practical feedback to site teams
  • Producing audit reports and tracking corrective actions
  • Advising site management on health and safety best practice and regulatory compliance
  • Building strong working relationships with site teams and client contacts
  • Staying up to date with current health and safety legislation and industry best practice

About You

  • Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate essential; additional H&S qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety) an advantage
  • Background as a Construction Health & Safety Manager or a Site Manager with strong health and safety focus
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own travel and diary
  • Devon-based candidates would be advantageous, but a willingness to travel to Bristol, Hull, and Nottingham is essential
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Full UK driving licence
