About the Role
SALT Training Limited is looking for an experienced and motivated Construction NVQ Assessor to support the launch and development of our new Construction NVQ provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong construction industry and assessment experience who wants to play an active part in developing high-quality provision.
You will assess and support learners undertaking Construction NVQs and apprenticeships, working closely with learners and employers to support progress and timely achievement. You will also help develop course content, assessment resources and structured learner journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess learners undertaking Construction NVQs and apprenticeships using a range of assessment methods, including workplace observations, professional discussions, questioning, witness testimonies and products of work.
- Plan and carry out learner reviews, workplace visits and progress monitoring.
- Provide clear feedback, coaching and support to help learners demonstrate occupational competence and achieve within agreed timescales.
- Support the launch and development of SALT Training Limited’s new Construction NVQ provision.
- Develop course content, assessment materials, programme resources and learner support materials.
- Map learner evidence and resources against qualification requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records using Smart Assessor and other e-portfolio systems.
- Work closely with employers to identify suitable workplace evidence and assessment opportunities.
- Monitor learner progress and identify learners who may be at risk of falling behind, putting appropriate support in place.
- Participate in standardisation, internal quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
- Work flexibly to support the continued growth of our apprenticeship and workplace construction provision.
What We Are Looking For
You will need:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ in at least one of the following: Carpentry, Bricklaying or Multi-Skills/Multi-Trade Construction.
- A valid TAQA Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- An IQA qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Relevant and credible occupational experience in construction.
- Experience of Construction NVQs and apprenticeship provision.
- Experience assessing occupational competence using a range of evidence sources.
- A proven track record of supporting learners towards timely completion.
- Experience using Smart Assessor and other e-portfolio systems.
- Experience creating programme resources and assessment materials.
- Experience mapping evidence and resources against qualification requirements.
- Strong written, verbal, digital and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage a varied learner caseload and meet deadlines.
Desirable
A teaching qualification such as AET, CET, DET or equivalent would be advantageous, along with experience of Skills Bootcamps, internal quality assurance, developing new programmes or working across more than one construction trade.
