Construction Supervisor
Location: Congleton, Cheshire (with travel across the contract area and regular travel to Essex as required)
Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to join our Construction team, overseeing the safe and successful delivery of highways improvement projects. This is a predominantly site-based role, working across the contract area to manage projects from planning through to completion. A company van and fuel card are provided to support travel between sites.
Job Description
Reporting to the Construction Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising, planning, programming, and organising a range of highways improvement works. Projects may include carriageway and footway improvements, structural patching, surface treatment programmes, road marking renewals, vehicle restraint systems, and street furniture installations.
This role is primarily site based, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. The position is based in Congleton, with travel across the wider contract area and regular visits to Essex required. A company van and fuel card are provided as part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the delivery of highways improvement projects from mobilisation through to completion.
- Ensure works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor compliance with Health and Safety legislation, company procedures, and CDM regulations.
- Review and assess risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH documentation.
- Carry out site inductions and issue permits to work where required.
- Coordinate contractors, supply chain partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor programme performance and manage site activities to minimise delays.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries, and progress reports.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with client specifications and contractual requirements.
- Support occasional night and weekend working when required to meet operational needs.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in a construction supervision role, ideally within highways or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction site operations, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Experience working around underground services and utility infrastructure.
- Knowledge of traffic management and site coordination practices.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the contract, including regular travel to Essex.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Good IT skills and the ability to produce clear reports and site documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to identify practical solutions and resolve site-based challenges.
- Relevant industry qualifications such as NRSWA Supervisor, SSSTS, SMSTS, CSCS Supervisor, Temporary Works Supervisor, or First Aid at Work are advantageous.
