Wolviston Management Services is recruiting an experienced Site Construction Supervisor to support a civil construction project at an operational fuel storage depot on South Uist.
The successful candidate will provide full-time, site-based supervision throughout the civil works phase, managing the contractor, monitoring progress and ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site requirements.
Project Scope
The works include:
- Replacement of an existing tank storage bund floor with a new concrete floor.
- Repairs to existing tank bund walls.
- Replacement of the Tank 4 berm with a new concrete berm.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day supervision of all site construction activities.
- Manage the principal civil contractor and any subcontractors.
- Monitor progress against the agreed construction programme.
- Review workforce, plant, equipment and material requirements.
- Resolve routine construction and site coordination issues.
- Coordinate deliveries, laydown areas and material storage.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organisation.
- Complete weekly site audits covering site rules, PPE, Permit-to-Work compliance and safe working practices.
- Manage project permits and maintain visibility of active and completed permits.
- Take a lead role in the control of hot work activities.
- Coordinate gas testing, atmospheric monitoring and associated safety controls.
- Identify and escalate safety, quality, cost or programme concerns.
- Maintain accurate daily records and provide regular progress updates.
- Support snagging, completion, handover and project close-out activities.
No vessel entry or confined-space entry activities are currently anticipated within the scope.
Required Experience
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience supervising civil construction works in an operational industrial environment.
- Experience within fuel storage, chemical, petrochemical, energy or another high-hazard sector.
- Strong contractor-management and site-coordination experience.
- Knowledge of concrete works, bund repairs or containment structures.
- Practical experience of Permit-to-Work systems.
- Experience managing hot work and gas-monitoring requirements.
- A strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
- The ability to monitor schedules, resources and construction progress.
- Strong communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and intervene where required.
Relevant construction supervision and health and safety qualifications would be advantageous.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time, site-based assignment at Loch Carnan Depot on South Uist. Due to the remote island location, applicants must be able to commit to the required mobilisation, travel and working arrangements for the duration of the project.
