Construction Technician – Further Education

Location: Inner NCC
Contract: Full time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Technician to join a Further Education college, supporting the delivery of practical Construction courses.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting teaching staff and students across the Construction department. The successful candidate will help ensure workshops, equipment, tools and materials are prepared, maintained and used safely to support practical teaching, assessments and examinations.

The Role Key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing tools, equipment and materials for practical classes, assessments and examinations.
  • Supporting teaching staff with the delivery of practical Construction sessions.
  • Ensuring workshops and practical areas are safe, clean, organised and ready for use.
  • Maintaining and checking tools, equipment and specialist resources.
  • Supporting students with technical queries and practical activities.
  • Monitoring safe working practices and ensuring College health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining appropriate stock levels and assisting with ordering materials and equipment.
  • Organising, storing and disposing of materials appropriately.
  • Reporting faults and arranging maintenance or repairs where required.
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs where appropriate.
  • Using IT systems and maintaining relevant records.
  • Working in accordance with safeguarding, equality and diversity and health and safety policies.
About You The successful candidate will have relevant Construction industry experience and strong practical knowledge of working within a workshop or training environment.

You will ideally have:
  • A relevant Construction qualification or trade background.
  • Strong practical Construction skills and knowledge.
  • Experience using Construction tools, equipment and materials.
  • Good knowledge of workshop health and safety.
  • Strong organisational and practical skills.
  • The ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and students.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and equality and diversity.
Previous experience working within a Further Education college or training environment would be advantageous, although strong industry experience will be considered.
