Consultant Histopathologist – Gynaecological Histology
Location: East Sussex, UK

We are recruiting for a Consultant Histopathologist to join an established NHS Cellular Pathology department in East Sussex, working across acute hospital sites in Hastings and Eastbourne.

The role offers a specialist focus in gynaecological histology, alongside the opportunity to take on the role of Lead Histopathologist for Cervical Screening Histology.

You will join a UKAS-accredited Cellular Pathology department processing approximately 29,000 surgical cases per year, with an established double-reporting system for cancer cases and active involvement in cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality consultant-level histopathology services.
  • Develop and contribute to the department's gynaecological histology service.
  • Undertake the role of Lead Histopathologist for Cervical Screening Histology.
  • Participate in cancer MDTs and multidisciplinary working.
  • Contribute to the established double-reporting system for cancer cases.
  • Support the delivery and ongoing development of the Cellular Pathology service.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the two acute hospital sites.
     

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register.

We are particularly interested in candidates holding one of the following:

  • CCT – Certificate of Completion of Training
  • CCST – Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training
  • CESR – Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration

Candidates should have appropriate experience and/or specialist interest in gynaecological histology.
