Are you a Contract Manufacturing Engineer - NPI with strong experience in electromechanical product manufacturing, new product introduction, and low–medium volume, high‑value build environments? We have a 6-9 month contract on offer which gives you ownership of taking complex products from prototype through to stable, repeatable production.
You’ll join a growing engineering and manufacturing function working on advanced electromechanical and electronic systems, where your work directly shapes how high‑value products are built, scaled, and industrialised.
The Role
This is a hands-on Contract Manufacturing Engineer - NPI position focused on the manufacture, assembly, and industrialisation of complex electromechanical products within a low–medium volume, high‑value production environment.
You’ll work closely with design, production, and test teams to transform evolving prototypes into stable, production-ready assemblies. You’ll define processes, tooling, and build flows that ensure products can be manufactured reliably, repeatedly, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities for the Contract Manufacturing Engineer - NPI
- Lead the transition of electromechanical products from prototype to full production (NPI)
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and build documentation for low–medium volume, high‑value products
- Translate evolving designs into robust, manufacturable solutions with clear production structure
- Work closely with design engineers to improve product architecture, assembly flow, and build quality
- Drive improvements in scalability, repeatability, and manufacturing efficiency
- Support production teams with technical input, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Create work instructions, process maps, tooling requirements, and build standards
- Contribute to ongoing product development with a manufacturing-first mindset
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within an electromechanical or electronic product environment
- Strong, demonstrable experience with NPI, product industrialisation, and prototype-to-production transition
- Background in low–medium volume, high‑value manufacturing
- Experience in assembly processes, build optimisation, and hands-on manufacturing support
- Ability to bring structure to evolving designs and maturing product architectures
- Practical, proactive problem-solver with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Desirable Experience
- High-power electronics, electromechanical assemblies, or complex multi-part builds
- Experience in fast-paced development or start-up-style environments
- Supporting scale-up of products into structured low–medium volume production
Please note, this contract does not accept candidates operating through a Personal Service Company (PSC). Therefore, you will be required to work through an Umbrella company.
