Are you an experienced housing, property compliance, or contracts professional looking for your next opportunity within local government?
We are seeking a Contracts Management Officer to support the delivery and monitoring of temporary accommodation contracts, ensuring accommodation providers meet contractual obligations, property standards, and health and safety requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting vulnerable residents by ensuring temporary accommodation remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor contracts with temporary accommodation providers to ensure compliance with agreed standards and contractual requirements.
- Review and approve key compliance documentation, including:
- Gas Safety Certificates
- Electrical Safety Certificates
- Fire Risk Assessments
- Energy Performance Certificates
- Other statutory health and safety documentation
- Conduct inspections of temporary accommodation properties, identifying defects, disrepair issues, and compliance concerns.
- Investigate complaints relating to property standards, repairs, and health and safety matters, ensuring providers take appropriate corrective action.
- Work closely with accommodation providers, landlords, managing agents, and internal teams to resolve property and contractual issues.
- Monitor provider performance and recommend appropriate actions where contractual obligations are not being met.
- Maintain accurate records and data across housing management systems and compliance databases.
- Produce reports, performance information, responses to enquiries, and support service improvement initiatives.
About You
We are looking for candidates with:
- Experience working in housing, property compliance, contract management, temporary accommodation, homelessness, or a related field.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, landlord and tenant responsibilities, and property compliance requirements.
- Experience carrying out property inspections and assessing accommodation standards.
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance, including gas, electrical, fire safety and related property regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and competing priorities.
- Experience producing reports and maintaining accurate records using IT systems and databases.
