Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering & Water Infrastructure

Location: Greater Manchester

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of civil engineering and water infrastructure projects across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader with a background in civil engineering, utilities, water infrastructure, wastewater or process environments. You will take responsibility for multiple projects, providing leadership to Site Managers and delivery teams while ensuring schemes are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to a high standard.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple minor works projects, from pre-construction and mobilisation through to completion.

Key responsibilities will include:

Overseeing multiple civil engineering and water infrastructure projects simultaneously

Providing leadership, direction and support to Site Managers and site delivery teams

Managing works including process treatment facility improvements, storm overflow solutions and environmental improvement schemes

Ensuring projects meet CDM, health & safety, environmental and quality requirements

Monitoring programmes, resources, risks, budgets and overall commercial performance

Working closely with commercial teams, subcontractors, suppliers and key client stakeholders

Carrying out regular site visits, reviews and audits

Identifying potential delivery issues and implementing practical solutions

Supporting tender and pre-construction activity, including buildability, programme, supply chain and risk input

Coaching and developing project teams while promoting a strong safety-first culture

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Proven experience managing multiple civil engineering, utilities, water or infrastructure projects

Strong leadership and people-management skills, including experience managing Site Managers and multidisciplinary delivery teams

Good commercial and contractual awareness

Experience managing programme, cost, risk and resources across multiple projects

Strong technical knowledge of civils, wastewater, drainage, process treatment facilities or environmental infrastructure

Excellent client and stakeholder management skills

Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities

A proactive approach with a strong commitment to health & safety, quality and continuous improvement

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and project-planning software

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience working within the water industry or an AMP framework would be highly advantageous, along with:

Knowledge of wastewater treatment operations

Experience with storm overflow programmes

Knowledge of NEC contracts

Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification

SMSTS

Appropriate CSCS card

First Aid at Work

Full UK Driving Licence
