Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 (DOE) + Package

Are you an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong background in structural and architectural steelwork? Do you have estimating experience and enjoy managing projects from tender stage through to installation?

We are recruiting for an established steel fabrication and installation contractor looking to add an experienced Contracts Manager to their growing team based in Colchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of multiple steelwork projects, combining estimating, project management and client liaison in a varied and rewarding role.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will oversee steel fabrication and installation projects from initial enquiry through to final handover. You will also be responsible for preparing estimates and quotations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple steel fabrication and installation contracts.
• Prepare accurate estimates and quotations for new enquiries.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate fabrication schedules with production teams.
• Plan and oversee site installation programmes.
• Monitor project costs, variations and profitability.
• Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality standards.
• Carry out regular site visits and progress meetings.
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Contracts Manager within the structural or architectural steel industry.
• Strong estimating experience within steel fabrication and installation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Good commercial awareness with experience managing project costs.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience coordinating fabrication and site installation teams.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
