Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy generation company to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to be based at their Energy from Waste site in Worchester.
The Controls and Instrumentation role comes with a salary of up to £63,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the C&I Engineer role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:
- Ensure all control and instrumentation systems are correctly operated, maintained, tested, and calibrated in line with statutory and site requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of C&I Technicians, providing technical direction, performance management, and ongoing training.
- Maintain and optimise the site's Distributed Control System (DCS) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
- Plan, manage, and oversee maintenance and calibration contracts for specialist systems including DCS, CEMS, water treatment, and security systems.
- Support audits, compliance activities, and procurement processes in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
- Develop and implement obsolescence and cyber security strategies for control and instrumentation systems.
- Provide fault diagnosis, emergency support, and cross-discipline technical assistance to maintain plant reliability and performance.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Minimum HNC (Higher National Certificate) or higher in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least five years' post-qualification experience in a C&I role within a power generation, process, or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of DCS and CEMS systems, with proven hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and external maintenance contractors.
- Solid understanding of process control systems, safety standards, and compliance frameworks.
