Ambitions Personnel

Batch Cook – Large Warehouse Canteen

Location: Large Warehouse Canteen
Role: Batch Cook / Canteen Cook
Hours: 06:00–15:00 weekend shifts

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Batch Cook to work in a busy warehouse canteen, preparing and serving breakfast and lunch for employees.

Ideally, we would like the same cook to cover all shifts, allowing them to become familiar with the kitchen, equipment, stock locations, menus and service requirements, without the need for repeated training.

Shift Requirements

Friday 28th – 06:30–15:00

  • Shadow the existing cook on site.
  • Become familiar with the kitchen layout, equipment and procedures.
  • Understand where all ingredients, stock and equipment are kept.
  • Prepare for the weekend service.

Weekend cover – 06:00–15:00:

  • Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th
  • Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th
  • Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th

The successful candidate will ideally be available for all of the above shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch for a large number of employees.
  • Carry out batch cooking to the required quantities and standards.
  • Ensure food is prepared, cooked and held safely.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Follow menu plans, portion sizes and agreed recipes.
  • Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean and organised.
  • Monitor food levels and communicate any stock requirements.
  • Work efficiently to ensure food is ready on time for service.
  • Complete cleaning and end-of-shift duties.
  • Follow all site health & safety and food hygiene procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in batch cooking or high-volume catering.
  • Comfortable working in a busy canteen environment.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Able to work independently once shown the site.
  • Organised and able to manage timings effectively.
  • Confident preparing breakfast and lunch in volume.
  • Knowledgeable about food hygiene and safe food handling.
  • Flexible and willing to work the full weekend rota.
  • Ideally available to cover every shift listed, providing consistency for the site.

Why Consistency Is Important

We are specifically looking for one cook to cover the full run of shifts, wherever possible. The Friday shadow shift will allow the cook to learn the site and kitchen before taking responsibility for the weekend services. This will ensure continuity, minimise repeated training and allow the cook to become fully familiar with how the canteen operates.

Availability for all shifts is highly desirable.
