Pay rate: £17.06per hour + holiday pay (accrued hourly)

Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 12:00-18:00

Start date: Monday 3rd August



About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to cover at a Ministry of Justice site for 2 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals in a well-organised, modest kitchen environment.

Independently working, you will be responsible for producing high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. The role requires flexibility, good organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a secure environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of freshly made meals.
  • Assist with menu planning and daily food preparation.
  • Ensure all food is prepared to high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards in line with current legislation.
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate stock correctly, and minimise food waste.
  • Receive and store deliveries safely and appropriately.
  • Clean kitchen equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Comply with all security procedures relevant to working on a Ministry of Justice site.


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least a basic DBS certification.
  • Previous experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
  • A good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and professional approach.

This specific placement is scheduled to last for 2 weeks. Depending on performance an extension could be offered. You also have the opportunity to tap into a wealth of other placements and work places!
