Class 1 Personnel
Pay rate: £17.06per hour + holiday pay (accrued hourly)
Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 12:00-18:00
Start date: Monday 3rd August
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to cover at a Ministry of Justice site for 2 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals in a well-organised, modest kitchen environment.
Independently working, you will be responsible for producing high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. The role requires flexibility, good organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of freshly made meals.
- Assist with menu planning and daily food preparation.
- Ensure all food is prepared to high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards in line with current legislation.
- Monitor stock levels, rotate stock correctly, and minimise food waste.
- Receive and store deliveries safely and appropriately.
- Clean kitchen equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Comply with all security procedures relevant to working on a Ministry of Justice site.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- At least a basic DBS certification.
- Previous experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
- The ability to work independently.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- A positive, flexible, and professional approach.
