Cook / Chef Wanted 

A pub with a passion for proper, home-cooked food is looking for a talented Cook/Chef to join the team.

We're known locally for our gorgeous home-made menu — from hearty classics to our legendary Sunday dinners — and we're looking for someone who takes real pride in what goes out of the kitchen.

The Role

• Preparing and cooking a home-made menu using fresh, quality ingredients
• Leading on our Sunday roasts — a real highlight of the week for our regulars
• Maintaining consistently high standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene
• Managing food prep, stock rotation, and kitchen organisation
• Working closely with the front-of-house team to keep service running smoothly

What We're Looking For

• Solid experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a pub, gastropub, or similar food-led environment
• A genuine passion for home-style, from-scratch cooking
• Someone who can work calmly and efficiently under pressure during busy services
• A flexible approach — this role requires availability for:
  • Weekend working
  • Bank holidays
  • Christmas & New Year period
  • Holiday cover as needed across the team
• A team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills

Certificates & Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (essential)
• Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (desirable)
• Recognised catering/culinary qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) desirable but not essential — experience is just as important
• Basic Food Hygiene / HACCP awareness
• Allergen awareness training (desirable)
• First Aid at Work certificate (desirable)
