Corporate Finance Manager (Technical Accounts)
Sellick Partnership
Role Title: Corporate Finance Manager (Technical Accounts)
Type: Interim 6-month contract
Day Rate: £500 to £700 per day Inside IR35
Hybrid: Ideally, 2 to 3 days per week
Location: Warwickshire
Sellick Partnership are working with a local authority who are seeking an experienced Corporate Finance Manager to join their finance team on an interim basis.
This is a hands-on technical finance position and would suit a fully qualified accountant with strong recent local authority experience, particularly within a District or Borough Council. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad range of corporate finance activities and will be expected to get involved in the detail rather than simply manage the function.
Initially, the successful candidate will be required to work on site in Warwickshire for approximately four days per week for the first couple of weeks, allowing them to understand the current position and meet key stakeholders. Following this, the requirement is expected to reduce to approximately 2-3 days per week on site, depending on business need.
The responsibilities of the Corporate Finance Manager will be:
- Taking a hands-on lead across the council's core corporate finance function, including the production of the Statement of Accounts and supporting the external audit process.
- Managing key technical and statutory finance areas, including VAT, CIS, Fixed Assets, WGA, Delta returns and associated reporting requirements.
- Supporting treasury management, banking, cash flow and wider financial control, alongside Accounts Payable and other day-to-day corporate finance activity.
- Taking ownership of any wider corporate finance issues or priorities that require additional support, ensuring the finance function continues to operate effectively.
The ideal candidate for the Corporate Finance Manager role will have:
- A full professional accountancy qualification, ideally CIPFA, ACA or ACCA, with strong technical accounting experience.
- Recent experience working within a District or Borough Council, with a good understanding of local authority finance.
- A broad knowledge of corporate finance, including statutory accounts, audit, VAT, treasury management and financial reporting.
- A genuinely hands-on approach and the ability to work across multiple areas of the finance function when required.
