About the Role

We are working on behalf of a forward-thinking Local Authority to recruit an experienced Corporate Property Manager to lead the management of a diverse commercial and operational property portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior property professional to play a key role in delivering the Council's Strategic Asset Management Plan, maximising asset performance, supporting service transformation and leading a team of Property Asset Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the Council's corporate property portfolio, including industrial estates, business parks, retail assets, markets, county farms, harbours and other operational assets.
  • Deliver strategic asset management initiatives to ensure the estate is fit for purpose, financially sustainable and aligned with corporate priorities.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Property Manager to implement the Council's Strategic Asset Management Plan.
  • Develop strong business partnering relationships with internal departments, providing strategic property advice and challenging operational property requirements where appropriate.
  • Support the Head of Property in delivering effective asset management and property strategy across the organisation.
  • Oversee property valuations in accordance with CIPFA guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, generate income and reduce revenue expenditure across the corporate estate.
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of Property Asset Managers and Surveyors, including performance management, recruitment, training and professional development.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior officers, elected members and key stakeholders on property-related matters.

About You

We're keen to speak with experienced property professionals who have:

  • MRICS qualification (or equivalent significant experience).
  • Extensive experience managing large and diverse commercial property portfolios within a Local Authority or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate estate management, asset strategy and landlord & tenant matters.
  • Experience delivering Strategic Asset Management Plans.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with experience identifying opportunities to maximise asset performance and generate income.
  • Experience overseeing property valuations and a good understanding of CIPFA valuation requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary property teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and elected members.
