Forklift Driver - Counterbalance
Location: Maldon
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:00am – 4:15pm
Pay: £14.50 per hour
Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract
Our client is a busy manufacturing and distribution business, and due to continued growth, are looking to recruit a Counterbalance Forklift Driver to join their team on an initial 6 month fixed term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced forklift driver to join a busy operation where you will play an important role in ensuring products are handled, stored and dispatched safely, accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck.
- Complete daily Forklift Truck safety checks and report any faults or issues.
- Pick products accurately and efficiently to meet operational requirements.
- Support the packing operation by ensuring packaging materials are readily available.
- Complete stock rotation in line with site procedures and standards.
- Report any stock damage to the relevant manager and move damaged goods to the appropriate quarantine area.
- Carry out pre-loading and unloading vehicle inspections.
- Ensure visiting drivers follow all site rules and procedures.
- Load vehicles safely and ensure products are not damaged during loading.
- Transfer products between pallets as required.
- Load and unload vehicles and containers.
- Maintain effective communication with drivers, hauliers, colleagues and management.
- Ensure products are dispatched with the correct documentation.
- Complete weekly cleaning schedules and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, quality, hygiene and housekeeping at all times.
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and legal requirements relating to Health & Safety.
Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within a busy manufacturing or warehouse environment
- A good understanding of manufacturing, Health & Safety processes and relevant legislation.
- Proven experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck.
- A valid & accredited Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- A valid driving licence.
- Experience using warehouse scanners would be advantageous.
- A strong focus on Health & Safety, accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.
Working Hours
The role is initially offered on a 6 month fixed term contract, working:
Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:15pm
If the role becomes permanent following successful completion of the fixed term period, you will be required to work a rotating shift pattern.
