Counterbalance Forklift Driver - Nights in Birtley, Tyne and Wear

This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity for an experienced forklift driver looking to secure a long-term position on a permanent night shift.
The successful candidate will initially complete approximately 2 weeks of training on the day shift, before progressing onto the permanent night shift following successful completion of training.
You must hold an in-date in-house or external Counterbalance Forklift Licence to be considered for this position.
Training & Pay Progression
Training will initially be completed on a day shift, allowing you to become familiar with the site, processes, stock systems and working procedures before moving onto the permanent night shift.
Training Period - Approximately 2 Weeks
* Monday to Friday
* 07:00 until 15:30
* £13.18 per hour
* Full site and role training provided
* Counterbalance forklift and stores processes
* Training to ensure you are fully competent and confident within the role
Once fully trained - Permanent Night Shift
* Sunday to Wednesday
* 22:00 until 06:00
* Thursday
* 21:00 until 05:00
* £17.57 per hour
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Temporary to permanent opportunity
The Role
As a Counterbalance Forklift Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving, receiving, storing and delivering goods throughout the business.
You will play an important role in ensuring materials and finished goods are available to the relevant departments while maintaining accurate stock records and high standards of health and safety.
Please note - this role involves working outdoors, and you must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
Key Responsibilities
* Pick and move goods using a Counterbalance Forklift
* Receive deliveries and check goods received against relevant documentation
* Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries and any stock discrepancies
* Maintain accurate records of shortages, spares and stock requirements
* Regularly update inventory management systems
* Organise and deliver goods from the stores to the relevant sections
* Safely move and distribute materials around the site
* Deliver finished goods to customer sites when required
* Ensure goods are handled and stored safely and correctly
* Maintain accurate stock and inventory records
* Carry out routine checks of goods and materials
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
* Follow all company health & safety policies and procedures
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have -
* A valid in-house or external Counterbalance Forklift Licence
* Previous Counterbalance Forklift experience
* Experience within a warehouse, stores, manufacturing or logistics environment
* Good understanding of stock control and goods-in processes
* Basic IT skills and experience using inventory management systems
* Working knowledge of word processing software
* Excellent organisational skills
* Strong attention to detail
* The ability to work methodically and efficiently
* Good communication and teamwork skills
