Education First are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a primary school in Southwark on a long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or education professional who is confident managing classrooms and supporting pupils in the absence of their regular teacher.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring pupils remain engaged and supported throughout the school day.

The Role – Cover Supervisor

• Delivering pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the absence of the class teacher.
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a calm, positive and engaging learning environment.
• Supporting pupils with their learning, ensuring they understand and complete lesson activities.
• Working alongside teaching assistants and school staff to support pupils with additional learning needs.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging confidence, participation and independence.
• Supporting pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs where applicable.
• Following lesson plans and adapting activities to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, learning and pupil engagement.
• Supporting the wider school team with classroom and pastoral responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working in a primary school or similar educational setting.
• Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or other education-based role.
• Confident managing classrooms and maintaining positive behaviour.
• A patient, resilient and caring approach to working with children.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and support pupils with different learning needs.
• Experience working with SEN pupils is desirable.
• A genuine passion for helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to different classroom environments.
