Prospero Teaching is recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Dorset from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or other education-based careers.

Your Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring learning continues when teachers are absent. You will:

  • Lead lessons using pre-prepared teaching materials
  • Maintain a positive, focused, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support students in completing tasks and achieving learning objectives
  • Manage behaviour confidently and professionally
  • Ensure continuity of learning across a range of subjects
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff


Subjects You Could Cover

No two days are the same. You may work across:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Design & Technology
  • ICT / Computer Science
  • Physical Education
  • Art & Performing Arts

  • Confident, adaptable, and resilient
  • Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about supporting young people
  • Comfortable leading groups and managing a classroom environment
  • Keen to gain experience in secondary education


Experience & Qualifications

We welcome applicants with:

  • Experience working with young people in schools, coaching, tutoring, youth work, or similar settings
  • A degree or strong academic background (preferred but not essential)
  • Safeguarding training (desirable, but training can be provided)


What You'll Need

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two recent professional references
