Smile Education are recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools across Oldham.
This role is suitable for graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors, or candidates with relevant experience in mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work or education.
Applicants without a degree or relevant experience working with young people will not be considered.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre-set lessons across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher.
You will not be expected to plan lessons. The focus is on keeping pupils engaged, managing behaviour and ensuring work is completed.
Work is available from one to five days per week, with short-term, block and long-term opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects.
- Keep pupils focused, engaged and on task.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Follow lesson instructions and resources left by teaching staff.
- Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff where required.
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
- You must have a degree or relevant experience working with young people.
- Experience in cover supervision, mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, supply or education is suitable.
- You must be confident leading groups of secondary-aged pupils.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills are essential.
- You should be reliable, punctual, adaptable and professional.
- Previous school experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- £100–£130 per day, paid weekly.
- Flexible work available from one to five days per week.
