Supply Desk are working closely with a welcoming and well-established secondary school in Salisbury, who are seeking a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate, aspiring teacher, Cover Supervisor or experienced education professional looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

The successful candidate will supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged, focused and on task in the absence of their usual teacher.

Overview

Supply Desk are currently seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor for a long-term position within a supportive secondary school serving students aged 11–16.

The role will involve delivering pre-set work across Key Stages 3 and 4, maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students throughout the school day. There is no planning or marking required, making this a fantastic opportunity for graduates and aspiring teachers looking to build their classroom experience.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and work across a variety of subjects.

  • Supporting students to remain engaged and focused on their learning.

  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and learning.

  • Creating a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.

  • Following school policies and procedures.

  • Providing support and encouragement to students where required.

  • Liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure effective communication.

  • Supporting the wider school community when required.

We are looking for Cover Supervisors who:
  • Have experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring or youth setting.

  • Are confident managing a classroom and maintaining positive behaviour.

  • Can communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students.

  • Are adaptable, organised and able to think on their feet.

  • Have the confidence to supervise students across different subjects and year groups.

  • Have high expectations of student behaviour and achievement.

  • Are reliable, professional and committed to safeguarding.

  • Hold a degree or have relevant experience working within schools (desirable but not essential).

  • Are passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.

  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
